The UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs is set to make a lasting impact in the realm of affordable housing, thanks to a generous $2.5 million donation from Jeffrey Jaeger and Scott Alter, the co-founders of Standard Communities. This investment aims to expand the newly launched Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program, which is specifically designed to train future leaders who can tackle housing challenges in our communities.

The funds will support the UCLA Jaeger Alter Standard Communities Affordable Housing Program, where students will be able to earn a Certificate in Affordable Housing. As Greg Morrow, the executive director of the UCLA MRED program, puts it, this program will pave the way for developing advanced coursework that incorporates innovative approaches to building affordable housing. These strategies will utilize emerging capital market solutions that extend far beyond the limitations of traditional public subsidies.
